Auto-Correct, Unwind/Rebuild, Cancel and Replace
A sophisticated cancel/replace engine has been implemented facilitating automatic unwind/rebuild for affected transactions and recording the effects in the appropriate accounting period. This is triggered from canceled/replace transactions or static data modifications such as factor changes, coupon changes, etc.
Tax Lot Data Stored in Three Levels of Currency
Accounting data is stored at the tax lot level in three currencies (local, base and reference currency for each firm). This supports global funds managed across multiple regions. Storing calculated data facilitates data access and external data reporting without requiring redundant calculations.
Date Agnostic with Multiple Fund Periods
BasisPoint supports multiple entities and funds by allowing each to have their own fund date independently. Global “passing of the book” can be performed without impacting others funds or entities who are on a different date. The system’s ability to accommodate close periods and two open periods accurately reflects the financial impact of back-dated adjustments in the correct period.
Fund / Portfolio (Strategy) Specific Preferences
Accounting rules by instrument, pricing and rate source hierarchy rules by instrument are maintained at the individual Fund / Portfolio (strategy) level providing for further support of a multi-entity structure.
Microsoft Technology and Open Database
BasisPoint embraces Microsoft’s technology by utilizing SQLServer 2005 which provides ease of integration, enhanced performance and scalability. Use of Microsoft’s Reporting Services allows clients to obtain data automatically within Microsoft Office applications such as Excel. The open data model, coupled with Microsoft’s integration services, allows BasisPoint to be accessible through standard web services interfaces, as well as common standards like ODBC and CSV file formats. The platform also leverages the .Net framework to provide BasisPoint with more capabilities around component-based functions that extends its feature-set.
